Facet Joint Injections

Facet Joint Injections are a treatment used to relieve pain caused by arthritis, injury, or stress in the small joints along the spine called facet joints. These joints can become inflamed, leading to neck or back pain, sometimes radiating to other areas. During the procedure, a doctor injects a combination of a steroid (to reduce inflammation) and a local anesthetic (to numb the area) directly into the painful facet joint. This helps to reduce pain and improve mobility in the spine. Facet joint injections are commonly used when other treatments, like physical therapy or medications, haven’t worked well enough. They can also help determine if the facet joints are the source of your pain. Relief can last for weeks to months, depending on your condition.
