HOW CAN RADIOFREQUENCY NERVE ABLATION HELP WITH DAILY PAIN?

Text by Fred Wilkinson

Millions of Americans live with pain as part of their everyday lives.

In 2019, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report found that 20.4% of American adults had chronic pain, and 7.4% of adults had chronic pain they said frequently limited their lifestyle or work activities. CDC found chronic pain was highest among women and people aged 65 and older.

While the reality of millions of Americans living with pain hurts the conscience, it’s important to remember that there also are many more millions of concerned and caring family members of those living with pain who also are sharing in the challenges of alleviating their loved one’s pain while helping them to live full lives of activity and well-being.

SEEKING CARE TO RELIEVE PAIN

Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons adults seek out medical care.

In addition to the daily physical discomfort and mental stress people living with chronic pain must contend with, long-term sufferers of chronic pain are at heightened risk to develop further health complications and poor mental health.

PAIN REDUCTION WITH RADIOFREQUENCY NERVE ABLATION

Radiofrequency nerve ablation is a minimally invasive procedure. Also known as radiofrequency rhizotomy, radiofrequency nerve ablation can reduce or eliminate pain in damaged facet joints by disrupting medial branch nerves, which carry the pain signals.

Radiofrequency nerve ablation uses heat generated by radio waves to target specific nerves and temporarily turn off their ability to send pain signals.

Only local anesthetic is required when performing radiofrequency nerve ablation. Florida Spine & Pain Center specialists insert needles through the skin near the patient’s pain-afflicted area to deliver radio waves directly to the targeted nerves.

The procedure can be a solution for several types of chronic pain. Radiofrequency nerve ablation is most commonly an option for patients suffering from pain in the back, neck, and buttocks (sacroiliac joint) and may also help with long-term knee or hip joint pain.

REALIZE PAIN RELIEF

Florida Spine & Pain Center’s goal as a practice is to decrease pain and enhance physical performance without surgery, and patients can expect to be treated by Florida Spine & Pain Center’s team of experienced physicians and compassionate staff employing the latest technology to achieve favorable patient experiences and outcomes.

To learn if radiofrequency nerve ablation is the answer to alleviating your pain chronic, call Florida Spine & Pain Center’s office at (954) 447-5206 to schedule your appointment.

THE PATH TO DIANOSIS: LOWER BACK PAIN

Understanding Range of Motion in the Lumbar Spine

The most-reported pains and strains are in the lower back region. Pain typically begins as dull and aching and progresses to significant over time.

Lower back pain can alter the very essence of how you usually function and should not be ignored.

Symptoms are broad but can include:

  • Pain with a twisting motion (grocery shopping, playing sports, etc.)
  • Pain that starts in your lower back and radiates to the lower extremities
  • Stiffness in the morning that lasts through the day
  • Sudden weakness in the lower spine

To understand more about your pain and determine the possible cause, we will perform an exam that will include a range of motion testing and imaging, such as an X-ray, CT, or MRI.

These are necessary in order to pinpoint the exact location of spinal pain.

RANGE OF MOTION TESTING

We test your range of motion to understand better where your pain starts and to what degree motion is affected.

We will look at the passive and active range of motion in the lumbar spine.

Passive movement is completed by a physician controlling the movement. Active movement is the patient completing the movement with guidance from the physician. We are looking for function and dysfunction in these movements.

The movements are measured in degrees and will include Forward Flexion—bending forward, and Extension—bending backward in the opposite direction.

We will also test your ability to turn to each side, referred to as lateral flexion and rotation.

Note the movements in the graphic below:

If there is stiffness or weakness that prevents full flexion, extension, or rotation, we can begin diagnostics and build a treatment plan designed for you.

LOSS OF MOTION AND TREATMENT

Loss of motion in the spine can occur for several reasons, including:

  • Weakened muscles support and assist the movement of the spine.
  • Degenerative changes
  • Injury caused by work, motor vehicle accident, falling, sports, etc.
  • Excess body weight
  • Poor posture
  • Congenital
  • Infections or tumors

The Florida Pain Center provides several treatment options for lower back pain, including conservative treatments and surgical management.

Conservative treatments include anti-inflammatory, physiotherapy, and a referral for physical therapy.

While surgical option varies from non-invasive to stabilization and stimulation treatments, which are considered very advanced treatments reserved for patients who have failed all conservative treatment options available.

DAILY FUNCTION

If you’ve noticed a change in everyday activities due to pain, the Florida Pain Center has several treatment options available.

What Can Stem Cells in Miramar Do for You?

While invasive surgeries used to be the way to handle severe back pain, there’s a lot of research going into the world of stem cells in Miramar. Alternative medical research, in general, is making an entrance and they aren’t findings that are going to fade away any time soon. In the age of healing the body with the body, stem cells are incredible additions to this movement. How do they work? Do they really relieve pain? In this blog, we’ll talk about the many different ways stem cells can assist.

Stem Cells in Miramar for Pain, Injury, and Disease

Severe neck pain is a common issue in the technological age. More and more individuals are working remote jobs or office jobs that require eight hours in front of a desk. Unfortunately, this also leads to a stagnant lifestyle where the body is consistently pressured, lacks movement, and doesn’t truly get the amount of exercise it needs. In fact, did you know that humans aren’t really designed for long-term sitting in the first place? Evolution simply didn’t account for such a quick transition to sedentary environments. Because of this, the body is experiencing intense amounts of pain, even in younger people. Stem cells are being used as an alternative. Instead of medication or surgery, stem cells naturally regenerate sensitive areas that are suffering. Whether it’s rebuilding tissue or repairing fragments, stem cells instantly begin to rejuvenate your aches.

The same is true for degenerative disc diseases, osteoarthritis, injuries, and more. At the Florida Pain Center, we strive to provide relief to those who need it most. With our research into stem cells, we genuinely believe that this procedure is the future of medicine. Not only is it non-invasive, but it also provides a fast-acting solution to long-term pain. The body is a natural healer. All it takes is one phone call to start on your own personal path to recovery. If you’re looking for relief, try stem cells in Miramar. The Florida Pain Center is available to help you truly live your life. Call 954-447-5602 today and experience what it’s like to feel relaxed and fully participating in life’s activities.

How Not to Deal with Spine Pain in Miramar

The Internet is a vast place of information, and sometimes that information isn’t as accurate as we’d hoped it would be. For example, there are plenty of blogs out there with advice on how to handle spine pain in Miramar, but is it all trustworthy? Today, we’re going to make a list of the pieces of information we often hear that factually aren’t necessarily correct, especially within the field of exercise and fitness.

Lift with Your Legs to Avoid Back Pain in Miramar

The most common piece of advice in the fitness world involves lifting with one’s legs when participating in weights or squats. The idea that it stops individuals from straining their lumbar spine is minimal. In fact, experts say that it’s crucial to lift with the core. Bracing the core throughout the entire exercise can significantly take pressure off of your spine.

Hanging Upside Down Stops Spinal Pain

Unfortunately, hanging upside down from a bar won’t relieve back pain. It may feel good for a few moments, but it isn’t a long-term solution. For example, a person who works on a computer often could, in theory, take breaks to hang upside down, but it’s not going to fix the effects of Tech Neck. Alternative solutions would be taking midday yoga classes and exercising frequently.

Avoid Activity if You Experience Lower Back Pain

The truth is that nobody knows your body as well as you do. There’s a significant difference between the feeling of pulling a muscle and being sore from a sedentary lifestyle. While working out, if you feel that you’ve pulled or torn something, it’s best to stop in your tracks and assess the situation. However, if you’re experiencing lower back pain because of sitting too often, the contrary is true. Get out and exercise! Strengthening your core and body helps to relieve that pain, as it’s a sign that you’re putting too much pressure on your spine for support.

At the Florida Pain Center, we see plenty of cases with numerous causes. Whether it’s working out, injury, disease, disorder, or Tech Neck, we can assist. We offer a handful of non-invasive procedures that can not only bring relief but also aid in long-term recovery. Life is too short to be experiencing every moment in pain. Call 954-447-5602 today to make an appointment and experience what it feels like to live pain-free.

How Can a Spine Specialist in Miramar Heal Without Being Invasive?

It seems strange to individuals with extensive pain that they can heal with a spine specialist in Miramar without undergoing surgery or spending extensive amounts of time recovering. Up until recently, the medical field was adamant about prescribing painkillers after undergoing invasive surgeries. Now science is showing that the human body does a pretty fantastic job at healing itself. At Florida Pain Center, we strive to help our patients recover in a way that benefits them most. Here are a few examples of non-invasive treatment options for spinal aches and pains.

Spine Specialists in Miramar and Disc Injuries

Disc injuries are common in individuals, especially during herniation or age. They can cause significant back pain, especially in the lower back. While surgery used to be the most popular option, alternative pathways are now available. IDET, or Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy, is a relatively new procedure that is performed on an outpatient bases. The patient is awake, and it only takes about an hour!

Some individuals aren’t sure where their back pain is coming from. A discography or discogram can help diagnose the source of pain, pointing out whether one or two discs are causing the aches. After finding the source, our medical experts can help plan a treatment option tailored to the issue. Spinal cord stimulation or SCS also aids in relieving chronic pain. By using electrical impulses, this treatment prevents pain signals from being received. This is an ideal treatment option for those who have not found any other method to work.

One of the most common procedures happening right now is Trigger Point Injections. Trigger points are small knots that form in the back from technology or stress. Patients can usually feel them during a massage or with a simple rub over the upper back. Trigger Point Injections are an outpatient procedure, and only take minutes. Patients sit comfortably, and our physician introduces a needle with a solution that helps the trigger point to relax.

At Florida Pain Center, we understand that there are many different causes for back pain. When you visit our office, we won’t recommend just anything to get you started. We’ll take the time to assess your matter, professionally giving our guidance and expertise on what methods we think will be the most beneficial for you. If you’re ready to treat your aches and pains once and for all, call the Florida Pain Center today at 954-447-5206. Life is too short to live in agony. Instead, get your life back and function at optimal levels. Today is the day you say yes and decompress.

  • Muscle strains/overuse: from being hunched over the computer, using the smartphone; reading in bed; gritting your teeth, etc.
  • Worn joints: Your neck joints tend to wear down with age.
  • Nerve compression:  Herniated disks or bone spurs in the vertebrae of your neck can

press on the nerves branching out from the spinal cord.

  • Injuries: Rear-end auto collisions often result in whiplash injury.
  • Diseases: Certain diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, meningitis or cancer, can cause neck pain.

Using Stem Cells in Miramar to Treat Chronic Pain

Stem cells in Miramar are a reasonably new treatment method to help with pain management. As of a decade ago, stem cells were more of a mythical idea. With new technology and treatment, the positive effects of stem cells are being seen. Stem cells are small seedlings that stay with a human since the time they are born. As people age, stem cells become harder to find. Stem cells are being saved for beauty purposes, but they’re also being used for disc repair and joint degeneration. At Florida Pain Center, we offer stem cell treatment to help those struggling with chronic pain. If you’ve been dealing with chronic pain, your quality of life has probably decreased. With stem cells in Miramar, you can get your life back.

How Do Stem Cells in Miramar Work?

It’s a fair question. The general understanding is that stem cells repair damaged areas in the body. An example would be a person who has chronic spinal pain. The stem cells are removed from the body and injected precisely into the aching area. The stem cells then help to naturally repair, without needing to undergo extensive surgery.

More and more, medical professionals are finding ways to heal the body using the body. Does that sound confusing? Most people don’t know that the body is, by nature, a healer. If a person gets a cut, the body immediately begins to close the open wound. Within hours, the injury will have a new layer of skin. The same goes for internal bacteria. The use of stem cells to heal is revolutionary.

At Florida Pain Center, we firmly believe in healing aches and pains non-invasively. Neck, back, and spinal pains are all clear signs from the body. Though some cases require surgery, the reality is that many injuries can be healed with stem cells, steroid injections, electro-waves, or other treatments. If you’re seeking relief from your back pain, stem cells in Miramar may be an area worth researching. Call Florida Pain Center today to speak to a spine specialist at 954-447-5602. We have a vast understanding of what certain symptoms mean, and what can be done to rejuvenate and eliminate pain. If you’re ready to start getting some answers to your discomfort, Florida Pain Center is prepared to help.
